In terms of functionality, there are mainly five types of websites, these are:
- Brochure - this is basically a digital version of a printed brochure. These websites promote companies or products but unlike a eCommerce website - they do not sell these products. These websites are primarily for promoting a business
- eCommerce - an eCommerce website is a way for companies to actively buy or sell products over the internet. The most common areas of online of an eCommerce website are: online-retailing, electrical markets and online auctions
- Portal - this website collects information from diverse sources and uniforms them in a specific way to appease a certain audience - usually, the user can choose which information to display. This type of website is used most often in emails, online forums and search engines
- Wiki - a multilingual, web-based, free encyclopedia based on a model or openly editable and viewable content
- Social Media - these are platforms that fit in the social media category and can be accessed through apps, online, on mobiles/tablets and on computers. Unlike the other types of website, these ones usually require communication between two or more people instead of someone presenting information or other types of communication through text on the screen - meaning, no communication between the audience and writer is needed
I am going to put my logo in the same place as where it is for the BBC website. However, instead of the black and white colours, my logo is going to be white and orange. As well as this, the tool bar at the top of the website will also be a useful thing to copy however it would most likely link to a home page, a payment page, a shipping bag and a returns page. Another aspect of this website I want to use in my project is the individual tabs that display each story. They include a photo above the description of the story, I want to do this but use the photo to display the product and have an area that describes the product along with its price.
I like the use of a basket screen to show all of the products that the user potentially wants to buy as this will allow the user to delete any unwanted products and also to confirm that they are the products that they meant to buy. As well as this, it will allow the user to see the products in more detail and promote other products in a small menu on the side.
This page shows the location menu, I can do this by using some of the widgets in Adobe Muse that are supplied to me. This is aspect is used in all websites that require online payments so it will fairly straight forward to the user.
The user will be able to click on a button which will send them to a PayPal page and then they will be able to access their account or log in.
Transition Control Protocol - this travels the Web and other types of networks.
T.C.P > Packets of Data - A packet is a unit of data that is routed between an origin and a destination
Number of Packets - the number of packets is the amount of packets of data that are in the transition control protocol
Address (destination) - this is where the packets of data are sent to, they are only sent to a specific address and will not go to ones that is it not supposed to go to
Checksum - this is a digit that represents the amount of correct digits in a piece of stored or transmitted digital data
Packets 0 → 64Kb

In this video, we learnt how to use Hue/Saturation to change the colour of a duplicated photo as well as changing the name of each layer to make it easier to find each individual layer. Hue/Saturation can be found in the Image drop down at the top of the screen, under another drop down called Adjustments and by single clicking on the Hue/Saturation tool bar.
Next, we learnt how to make banners we also added a gradient - we did all this using two layers and the Rectangular Marquee Tool along with the Gradient Tool.
User Flow - a prototypical user on a site. For example:
- the user starts on the homepage
- from the homepage they click on the category button
- the category button will only show products labelled under a specific category
- from here the user can pick a product
- when the click on the product it will send them to a confirmation page
- once they've pressed the confirm payment button they are sent to a basket page
- they can they proceed to the payment area
- etc.

Good work so far Holly. You have analysed websites defining the requirements of this medium. You have a valid investigation of the client's requirements. You have recently detailed user flow and plans for each page of your site. Write how the user operates and travels through the site to visit pages. You are now applying and showing competency in skills and capturing this in screenshots in Ps and Muse. Begin to evaluate each stage of your website development and show how your research is applied extensively to your client's new site. Show all of the pages of your site with user flow by Friday 1st march.
